Riviera Nayarit/North Shore

Places to Visit

El Anclote – Punta de Mita

Anclote is located at the northern tip of Banderas Bay, just a five minute drive west of Paradise Coves. This small beach community has it all. There are numerous beachside restaurants with waves breaking right in front. Like other North Shore beaches, the waves are inside the bay – cleaned up with a prevailing offshore breeze. Anclote offers rental of surfboards, kayaks and stand up paddleboards. The Marietas Islands are just offshore and you can hire a sailboat or Panga to go snorkeling, whale watching or enjoy some of the best saltwater fishing in the world.

This is a friendly Mexican town located on highway 200 about ten miles north of the Puerto Vallarta Airport. Bucerias attracts visitors that want the amenities of shopping and dining with the experience only found in a quaint and relatively small town. You may shop and dine in small establishments located on the cobblestone streets. Beachfront dining, nightlife, art galleries, tours and shopping are just some of the activities a visitor can enjoy. A day trip to Bucerias from Casa Rincon is a worthwhile activity. You will find a long uncrowded beach. Sunday is street-market day, but it doesn’t get going until noon, in keeping with the town’s casual pace. Thursday evenings are art walk night where you may visit galleries as they are open during the evening and serve cocktails and refreshments along Lazaro Cardenas street. Bucerias also offers a chance to do major shopping without having to travel to Puerto Vallarta. Both Wal-Mart and Mega are located along highway 200.

La Cruz de Huanacaxtle

Originally developed as a small fishing village and mango plantation, the town is evolving as a tourist destination with lots of restaurants and the spectacular new Marina Riviera Nayarit. La Cruz is located about 4 miles east of Paradise Coves on the road to highway 200 and Puerto Vallarta. From Casa Rincon, this is a good place to get gas and groceries.
